Rules  (LAST UPDATED: 1/13/08)

The league is run on the Front Office Football simulator. In order to join the league, you must have Front Office Football 2007.

We will play a 16 game season, with you playing head-to-head against the other teams in the league.

We have full-length statistics, box scores, and standings all available. Click on the appropriate link to access these.

The playoffs will begin at the end of the season, with 12 teams making it, six from each conference. This works the same as the NFL, with the division champions and two wildcards from each division making it.
You will have the opportunity to trade players, sign and release players, and customize your own team to your desire.

The FFL is run by Mike (Arizing540) (franchisefootball@gmail.com).

The league began on February 19, 2005.

FFL Constitution

Rules of Conduct

1.0 - Fairness and good behavior is not something directly enforced. It is simply expected. We are adults and should behave like it. This does not mean we cannot joke around with each other good-naturedly. Owners will be expected to heed the following rules involving fairness and good behavior. This rule also covers cheating and exploitation of known bugs.

1.1 - No backloading of contracts. Other than the first to second year of a contract, no base salary may double or more than double from one year to the next.

1.2 - Bonuses offered in a contract proposal must remain at least 2/3 of the original requested bonus at the time the proposal is made. This means, a $9 million requested bonus cannot by lowered below $6 million. This rule applies to all players that request a bonus, regardless of the contract size.

1.3 - Players with less than 10 years experience seeking a contract of 3 or more years must be offered a minimum of 3 years.

1.3.1 - Players with less than 10 year experience seeking a contract of 1 or 2 years must be offered a deal that is at least equal to the number of years requested.

1.3.2 - Players with 10 years or more, may be offered shorter contracts.

1.4 - No trading of unsigned rookies.

1.5 - No trading of players that you recently (current season) signed via free agency.

Expulsion From League

2.0 - If the conditions arise, a GM could be dismissed from the league through either of two ways:

2.1 - Commissions may dismiss any GM at any time for any reason without prior notice or warning.

2.2 -  Other GMs may hold a vote and expel any owner.

2.2.1 - An expulsion by vote would be under review of the commissioners

Trades

3.0 - All proposed trades that are agreed upon by the teams involved will be under the review of the commissioner. League input on the trades is asked while the commissioners decide if a trade is valid and fair. Opposing a trade does not mean that a trade is voided. But the input from the opposing GM will be weighed against the validity of a trade.

3.1 - A trade that is opposed by at least half of the league's GMs, but no lower than 8, will force automatic cancellation of a trade.

3.2 - Opposition MUST BE in the form of emails to the commissioners.

3.3 - Trades that put teams over the salary cap will not processed. GMs are responsible for making room for that player before the trade is executed. The trade will be put on hold until both GMs produce enough cap room.

Changing Player Positions

4.0 - Players can be moved to any position as long as the scout doesn't foresee the player’s abilities decline more than 10 percent by the move. If a scout says that a player’s ability will remain 89 percent or less intact by a position change, that means a position change cannot be made without Commissioner approval.

4.1 - If a player abilities do not decline due to a position change, the change does not have to be approved by the league

4.2 - A player's position cannot be moved more than once in the same season without approval from the Commissioner.

Player Salary Cap

5.0 - The salary cap will increase on a fixed amount of $5 million each year for the life of this league. This will enable GMs to easily figure out how much cap room they will have next year.

Stage File

6.0 - GMs do not have to turn in stage files at every deadline, but they must meet deadlines when they turn stage files in.

6.1 - Owners are expected to submit exports (stage files) that include rosters that meet or are less than the game’s roster maximum of 60 players during the preseason and 53 players during the regular season.

Participation requirements

7.0 - GMs must keep contact with the Commissioner.

7.1 - Midweek stage file submissions are optional, but the league highly recommends that they also be made.

7.2 - If a GM knows that he or she will not be running their team for a extended amount of time for any reason, the GM must contact the commissioner either through posting on the board, email or Yahoo. The GM must include how long they expect to be absent.

7.3 - If a GM goes two weeks (4 games, a significant amount of time) without having contact with the league, the commissioner will turn the team over to CPU control. The commissioner will then attempt to make contact with the GM to see if they still want to run their team.

7.3.1 - If no contact is made after 1 day of emailing the GM, the GM will be removed from the league.

7.4 - If a GM needs time away from the league, the team will be put under CPU control unless the GM finds a temporary replacement.

Future Changes

8.0 - These rules may be changed and added to at any time by the commissioners as the need arises.
